When: December 7, 2023

In celebration of the 150th anniversary of the iconic 501 Jean, Levi’s has joined forces with New Balance to unveil an exclusive 580 pack.

Drawing inspiration from the mountain biking culture of the 1970s, particularly in Marin County, California — the birthplace of the sport — the 580 pack showcases two distinctive color schemes. The first variant boasts a black denim base, complemented by panels of both soft and textured beige suede. Notable details include patterned laces, pops of blue and pink throughout, and an off-white rubberized outsole.

The second pair takes a more subdued approach, featuring a deep blue denim base enveloped in soft grey nubuck leather. Accented with touches of pink and indigo blue, it sits atop a black rubber outsole with matching laces.

Both iterations proudly display Levi’s signature red tag, rest on ABZORB and ROLLBAR-enabled outsoles, and come packaged in a special box with an interior print narrating the following story:

“In the early 1970s, Marin County gave rise to the Mountain Bike. Cyclists pushed their limits on Mount Tamalpais’s fire roads, utilizing modified paperboy bikes to navigate challenging terrain. Accidents were an integral part of the sport’s evolution, and Levi’s denim emerged as the uniform for these pioneers—durable, protective, and stylish.”

Release of this Levi’s x New Balance 580 pack begins on December 6 via Levi’s and is set to be followed by a New Balance launch on December 7 at a price of $150 USD each.
