Elevated basics are par for the course in fashion, but none do it quite as well as AURALEE. Founded and designed by Ryota Iwai, the Japanese label has a reputation for crafting high quality essentials, whose constructions more than justify their equally high price tag. Footwear, too, is something of a speciality for Iwai, as he’s produced several collaborations with New Balance, the most of recent of which — the AURALEE x New Balance XC-72 — is about to land in two additional colorways.
First seen on the runway back in January, the AURALEE x New Balance XC-72 is dressed as simple as many of the label’s prior works. But compared to its immediate predecessors, these two colorways are even less indulgent, opting to dress its three different types of leather in either “Camel” or “White.” Even the tooling, lace unit, and lining are done up in similar tones, rounding out a cohesive offering fully characteristic of AURALEE.
